The World As It Is

‘The World as it is…We have all had the experience of observing events happening in the world and asking why? How can people be so cruel, so short-sighted, so selfish, so ignorant? Usually our answer, if we have one, is that there must be something seriously wrong with “those people,” out there. The work suggests that “the world is the way it is, because we are the way we are.” If we wish to understand the root causes of those human behaviors we would wish to see expressed otherwise “out there,” we must come to see them as a consequence of what is in me and what it means to change myself. If there is no possibility of changing my inner nature, can I expect more from “out there” than I have the capacity to change “in here?”
